Tales Of Injustice

by Andrew Zarowny, 8/22/2018

Paul Manafort was found guilty in his first federal court case on 8 of 18 charges against him. He now faces up to 80 years in prison. Michael Cohen plead guilty to charges against him and faces up to 6 years in prison. Meanwhile, Imran Awan, the Pakistani IT manager hired by Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, was sentenced yesterday to suspended probation for his crimes. His lawyers argued that Awan has suffered enough after President Donald Trump was mean to him, alleging that Awan may have been a spy for the Pakistani government. The judge agreed. All three men committed similar offenses, namely bank fraud. Awan skates free as Cohen faces 6 years and Manafort 80 years.

Had Awan been hired by Republicans, or worse yet, worked on the Trump campaign, he might be facing many years in prison as well. But instead, he gets off easy for his crimes. Even though in the big picture, scheme of things, what he did was far worse than anything Manafort or Cohen ever did. Take the millions of dollars he embezzled and wired to a bank in Pakistan. Awan claims that he was going to set up a women′s shelter. Funny, given that at least 4 women are alleging that Awan abused them as sex slaves.

Now, I should note that neither Cohen nor Manafort have been sentenced yet. So there is a slight chance that one, or both, may skate as well. Manafort may even get a pardon from President Trump at some point should he be sentenced to a long term in prison. Even the judge may toss out the verdicts for Manafort, as Judge T. S. Ellis has already publicly stated that it is obvious that prosecutors are just trying to squeeze Paul Manafort and use him against President Trump.

Naturally, the Fake News Media is hardly mentioning the Awan sentence as they give full-time coverage to the Cohen and Manafort cases. Mostly spinning the stories as the impending doom of the Trump presidency. The Manafort case has nothing to do with the President at all. As for Cohen, even the alleged campaign finance violations might be easily squashed in any future indictments on the President if he can prove that other women were paid off in the past merely to protect his marriage and reputation.
